Located on the banks of the Northwest River, this 763-acre park welcomes leashed dogs to join their owners for recreational activities like year-round hiking, boating, and fishing.
  • Chesapeake City Dog Park 500 Greenbrier Pkwy, Chesapeake, VA, US, 23323 This small, fenced dog park is a wonderful place to bring your pet for some exercise. The park includes a separate small dog area and a doggie washing fountain.
  • Hickory Ridge Farm 2928 S Battlefield Blvd, Chesapeake, VA, US, 23322 Hickory Ridge Farm in Chesapeake, VA, welcomes your leashed pup to join you for u-pick produce during their strawberry season in mid-April through early June and their pumpkin season in the fall. Enjoy their cider donuts, kettle corn and rotating selection of food trucks on weekends during their fall festival. Please keep your dog a safe distance from the working ponies and farm animals during your visit.

The Park encompasses 165 acres and features two man-made mountains, two lakes, two playgrounds, picnic areas, a skate park and vert ramp, outdoor fitness stations, and multi-use paths. Leashed dogs are allowed to explore the park as long as their owner cleans up after them. There are plenty of dog waste stations scattered throughout Mount Trashmore.

  • Chesapeake Humane Society 1149 New Mill Drive, Chesapeake, VA 23322 The Chesapeake Humane Society, located in the Great Bridge area of Chesapeake is a private, non-profit organization that works to promote the welfare of companion animals throughout Hampton Roads. CHS does not receive government funding and is not affiliated with any national humane organization or other Virginia-based animal welfare organizations. We are entirely dependent upon the generosity of individual and corporate supporters to fund our programs and services. Although we are not affiliated with, or funded by, the City of Chesapeake, we do work closely with Chesapeake Animal Services to help find homes for animals in the City shelter.
